(May 17, 2007)--The nasal spray version of the flu vaccine may soon be available to younger kids.
An advisory panel for the Food and Drug Administration says the spray is safe and effective for children who are at least two years old.
The makers of the spray, called FluMist, already have government approval for it to be used in healthy people, ages five to 49.
The company wants federal regulators to expand approval to include children as young as one, who don't have a history of wheezing or asthma.
The FDA isn't bound to follow the advice from its outside panels but it usually does.
