McKINNEY (November 28, 2009)—Authorities in Collin County are looking for a missing wildcat and they’re asking for the public's help.
The wildcat, called a serval, is a medium-sized African animal that resembles a cheetah with large ears.
It was last seen in the Collin County town of St. Paul.
The cat has been declawed and is not believed to pose a danger, but Collin County officials warn that it is a wild animal and may act aggressively if it feels threatened.
Anyone who spots the cat should call 911 immediately, and should not try to capture or restrain it, authorities said.
The missing serval weighs about 40 pounds, and is orange with black spots.
It was wearing a black collar and a red harness when it was last seen.
