(May 31, 2007)—Residents of a northwest Harris County neighborhood are dealing with a snake scare.

They’ve seen the snakes slithering through the neighborhood and a few have even turned up inside homes.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals says the snakes are imported African Ball pythons, which a resident in the neighborhood purchases for re-sale.

Because of some mix-up, the snakes were sent to his home instead of his shops.

Somehow, they escaped, and they’re turning up in homes, garages, and even pools.

The good news is that Ball pythons aren’t poisonous, but residents are worried about what might happen if the snakes survive and grow to their maximum adult length of six feet.
