(June 1, 2007)—Police Friday were investigating a three-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Killeen man.
Ricardo Salazar was a passenger in a Kia Sephia that slid sideways and into the oncoming lanes in the 1300 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Killeen after the driver lost control of the vehicle, police said.
An oncoming Nissan Frontier slammed into the passenger side of the Kia, and then a passenger car collided with the rear of the Nissan, police said.
The 35-year-old driver of the Kia was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and then airlifted to Scott & White Hospital in Temple where he was in the intensive care unit in serious condition Friday.
The 25-year-old woman who was driving the Nissan was treated for minor injuries at Metroplex Hospital and was later released.
The 25-year-old driver of the third car was taken to Darnall with what police said appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced Salazar dead at the scene at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday and ordered an autopsy.
