(June 1, 2007)-At least some residents of the one-stoplight town of Crawford near President Bush's ranch said Friday they are thrilled that Cindy Sheehan is packing up her tents and lanterns.

She announced earlier this week that she's stepping down as the face of the anti-war movement.

Although only a couple hundred demonstrators or less showed up at a few rallies since Sheehan bought the five-acre lot last year, residents hope things get back to normal in their usually quiet 700-resident town.

Sheehan announced earlier this week in her online diary that she was leaving the peace movement because of the "smear and hatred" she had endured, not only from the right but the left.

Her sister says Sheehan plans to sell the land on e-Bay as early as next week with an $80,000 starting bid.

Move America Forward, a pro-troop organization, said Friday that it wants to buy the land to erect a monument.

But Sheehan’s sister, Dede Miller, says "it'll be a cold day in hell" before Sheehan sells the land to the Sacramento, Calif.-based group.

"She'll sell it to them for $5 million” Miller said.

Miller says Sheehan's anti-war group has made many improvements to the land since buying the property last year for $52,500, putting in gravel roads, clearing brush and planting gardens.
