BAYTOWN (November 30, 2009)--Lee College and three campuses in the Goose Creek school district in and around Baytown were on lockdown Monday after a Texas prison inmate escaped from a prison van near Baytown during a prison transfer after briefly taking two prison guards hostage.
Officials believe Arcade Joseph Comeaux, 49, is armed and wearing a prison officer's uniform taken from one of the guards
State prison officials said the officers were transferring Comeaux from a prison in Huntsville to one in Beaumont when the inmate pulled out a gun.
Officials say that at the time of the escape, the inmate was in a wheelchair that he claimed he needed to help move him around.
Comeaux took the prison officers' weapons and a uniform, and handcuffed the guards together in the back of the prison van before escaping on foot.
When he was last seen, he was wearing one of the officer's gray uniforms and black boots and carrying the guards' weapons, a shotgun and two semiautomatic pistols.
He left his own weapon behind.
Police found the officers unharmed later Monday morning.
Comeaux, who’s 6-feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, is serving a life sentence for convictions in Fort Bend County of indecency with a child, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Hell should of let him go free with the rest of the convicts and thugs in Baytown God Im so glad to be out of that hell hole rather be in Iraq any given day of the year than be back there. Far as TDC Inmates have to many rights thats how they get away with so much it seems they have more rights behind bars than in front of them. I say we start frying all sex offenders, murderers, and repeat offenders no matter what.
Inside job... you think??
TDC is the laughing stock of Texas. Texas 7, no telling how many inmates with cell phones, now this. It's pathetic. Get Rick on the phone. Tell him to lock everything down ASAP. Do background checks on all current employees. I bet TDC would end up firing at least 30% of its employees.
