LACY LAKEVIEW (December 01, 2009)-The City of Lacy Lakeview said Tuesday it would cancel its Christmas Parade.

The parade was scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday but has been canceled because of the weather, the city said in a press release.

Tuesday’s forecast includes a chance 90 percent chance of rain throughout the day.

There was no word in the news release if the parade would be rescheduled.

Lacy Lakeview’s parade was the second to be canceled this year.

Last month, the City of Waco announced its annual Christmas parade would not happen this year because of a lack of financing.

Waco’s Holiday on the Square celebration will still go on but without the longstanding parade, which was previously sponsored by the now defunct Waco Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The city is planning a several events on Saturday at Heritage Square, including a “Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis,” a costume contest and the annual Christmas tree lighting event.

Other surrounding cities will also be holding Christmas parades and events throughout December:

-Salado Christmas parade at 5:00 p.m. Thursday
-Bellmead Christmas parade at 7:00 p.m. Thursday
-Gatesville Christmas parade at 11:00 a.m. Saturday
-Mart Christmas celebration at noon Saturday
-Belton Christmas parade at 3:00 p.m. Saturday
-Temple Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m. Dec 7
-Hewitt Christmas parade at 4:00 p.m. Dec. 12
-Killeen Christmas parade at 4:30p.m. Dec. 12
