WACO (December 1, 2009)—McLennan Community College Assistant Softball Coach Leslie Klemansky, 24, surrendered Tuesday after an arrest warrant charging sexual assault and two counts of sexual performance by a child was issued in connection with incidents involving a 15-year-old Kansas girl.

She was released at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday after posting a $60,000 bond.

Earlier Tuesday, MCC said Klemansky has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

State District Judge Ralph Strother confirmed Tuesday morning that he issued a search warrant for Klemansky’s residence Monday and that officers returned with evidence Monday afternoon including cell phones, a PDA, computers, cameras, a CD, SD cards and two pages of e-mails.

According to the search warrant affidavit, authorities are investigating allegations that an online relationship involving the exchange of sometimes-explicit messages and photographs developed after a softball batting camp in June and that the teenager was eventually flown to Texas and engaged in sex acts in Waco at least three times.

According to the affidavit, the teenager told investigators she met Klemanksy at the softball camp in June at the University of Oklahoma.

The girl said that Klemansky gave her a business card and that she later sent Klemansky a text.

“The suspect told the victim the suspect was gay and that the victim should give the suspect a shot,” the affidavit said.

The two exchanged messages, engaged in phone sex and exchanged photos on several occasions, the affidavit said.

The girl told investigators that Klemansky told her she loved her and wanted to marry her, the affidavit said.

Klemansky invited the girl to go to a hitting camp in New Braunfels and paid all expenses except for the plane ticket, the affidavit said, but instead brought the girl to Waco, the affidavit said.

MCC President Dr. Johnette McKown sent a message advising faculty and staff of the arrest.

“We have very little information about the specifics, but we do know that our softball team and the rest of the Athletic Department are not involved in these matters,” she said.

Klemansky is in her second year as assistant coach after spending two-and-a-half years as head coach of the Texas Bombers Royal squad, which is part of the Texas Bombers softball organization, according to her biography on the MCC Web site.

She spent a year at Kansas City Community College in Kansas and the transferred to the University of Evansville in Indiana.

After paying two years there, she transferred to St. Edward’s University in Austin, where she played her last year.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from St. Edward’s, according to the MCC Web site.

Sweet and caring person? Thats the first thing people say when a predator like this is caught! Great role model for your children, I hope she is never alone with them. She was placed in a position of authority with "children" and with that position of authority she preyed on a 15 year old CHILD. For a 23 year old single Mom who has 4 children, 3 different Dads I dont think you are in a position of making good, sound, MORAL choices for your girls!!! You should lay off the bottle and rethink who you have as a role model for your children. Moms don't take your eyes off your children..think twice about who you place your trust in!

She will always be a part of their lives and they are lucky to have her in theirs. It's ashame that people that don't even know Leslie have the right to make negative and hurtful comments. Especially without knowing the FACTS! Get a life people!
