FORT HOOD (December 4, 2009)—Some people have been waiting since 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Hood Post Exchange where former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will stop Friday evening as part of a nationwide tour to promote her bestselling book, “Going Rogue.”
The former Republican vice presidential candidate will spend three hours from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Fort Hood, signing copies of the book at the Clear Creek Post Exchange.
She said she will donate royalties from books sold during the appearance Friday to the families of the victims of the Nov. 5 shooting rampage at the post’s Soldier Readiness Center.
She wrote on her Facebook site Thursday that she’s “ready and anxious to see America’s finest at Fort Hood.”
“My heart is with every military mom, dad, spouse, child, grandparent... every supporter of our proud men and women in uniform,” she wrote.
Army Staff Sgt. Kevin Sinnott pre-ordered Palin's book and said he wanted to hear her story in her own words.
He said he never imagined he would meet her, but on Friday, Sinnott was among the hundreds waiting at Fort Hood.
Earlier Friday, Palin signed copies of “Going Rogue” at Legacy Books in Plano, where some residents lined up in the cold well before dawn in hopes of being among the first to greet her.
In all, about 1,500 people gathered Friday at the bookstore.
From Texas, she heads to South Dakota and then Minnesota.

To jenny in killeen: Its what you do not know that keeps you ignorant. Sarah wrote out a very sizable check after that book signing for the books which were purchased at the PX. I will not tell you how much it was, but its probably more than you make in a year. The check she wrote went to the victims of the Ft Hood tragedy. Ignorance is bliss and your comments confirm that.
Gil--I have done a lot of research on the Tri-Lateral Commission and I was very disturbed at what I learned. Like you, I'm not too crazy about the republicans these days. I am conservative most of the time especially when it comes to the first and second amendments and private property rights. I do believe in a balance of power. I never did like one party to have all the power. I hear good ideas from both. I like Sarah Palin but I just don't think she is right for president. I would like to see Dr. Rice as president and Palin for VP. Dr. Rice is very intelligent and has so much more experience.
