(June 6, 2007)--A judge in Washington, D.C. who was seeking $67 million from a dry cleaner that lost his pants has decided that's too much money for a pair of pants.

He's now asking for just $54 million.

Roy Pearson first sued the cleaners over a pair of pants that they apparently lost two years ago.

The administrative law judge was seeking $65 million under his interpretation of a consumer protection act, and $2 million in common law claims.

Pearson is now focusing on signs in the Custom Cleaners shop that have since been removed.

He alleges the shop managers committed fraud and misled consumers with signs that claimed "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and "Same Day Service."

The attorney for the shop managers says no reasonable person would interpret the signs as an unconditional promise of satisfaction.
