(June 12, 2007)--A former executive director-treasurer of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma has died in Texas.
William Graydon Tanner, Sr. died Sunday in Belton.
He was 77.
Convention spokeswoman Heidi Wilburn didn't provide a cause of death for the Tulsa native.
The funeral will be Thursday in Belton.
Tanner was the Oklahoma Baptist convention's seventh executive director-treasurer, from July of 1986 through June of 1996.
Tanner from 1968 to 1971 was president of what is now the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.
He became the president of Oklahoma Baptist University in September 1971 and spent five years at the Shawnee school.
After that, he spent ten years in Atlanta as the president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Home Mission Board, which is now called the North American Mission Board.
