Accidents happen. Even the best of hunters have them. I am grateful to the hunting buddies who reacted in a manner that compliments the quick thinking and level headed actions that needed to be in place for this young man to make it through to get the proper medical care. My prayers are with his family. For those individuals who do not participate in this outdoor function that benefits the state of Texas as well as the environment and wildlife populations, please keep your ill-advised and un-intelligent comments to yourselves.

These kids were hunting illegally end of story they very well could have ruined hunting lake Waco for many law abiding hunters. I am a young hunter (21) and me and my freinds hunt lake aquilla. We have all the permits and up to date licensing. The last thing we need is more poeple saying we are to young to hunt on our own. So just want everyone to know there are respectfull law abiding young hunters still out there

Too bad for the accident and I hope the young man is ok. I am more concerned about the future of public hunting on Lake Waco. I have been hunting Lake Waco for many years now and have never heard of any accidents until now. To make it worse, there were illegal hunters involved(not in the permit). We will be extremely lucky of the Corp doesn't put an end to it. For what? A silly accident and some illegal hunters. There has to be a certain amount of ethics involved in everything you do. Poaching is obviously unethical. That should be what this story is about. That and maybe to reinforce hunters education. How careless....
