GATESVILLE (December 28, 2009)—A routine traffic stop Saturday morning in Gatesville led to the recovery of what authorities say was a significant amount of drugs and the arrests of three Central Texas men.
Sesar Suarez Lopez, 19, Lucio Salas, 21, and Florencio Lopez, 22, all of McGregor, were arrested at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday after officers caught a whiff of burning marijuana in the car, authorities said.
Police stopped the vehicle that Sesar Lopez was driving in the 3400 block of South Texas Highway 36 after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign.
During a search of the car officers found about 5 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia commonly used to package narcotics, authorities said.
The three were taken to the Coryell County Jail where 10 more grams of suspected cocaine and a small quantity of marijuana were discovered during a search, authorities said.
Sesar Lopez was charged with possession of a controlled substance more than 4 grams with intent to deliver.
His bond was set at $50,000.
Salas was charged with possession of a controlled substance more than 4 grams with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana less than 2 grams and with public intoxication.
His bonds total $51,500.00.
Florencio Lopez had not been charged Monday morning.
