BELL COUNTY (December 30, 2009)—A father and his 7-year-old daughter were injured Wednesday afternoon when the motorcycle on which they were riding veered off Sparta Road in Bell County and struck a sign.
The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as the two were riding east on Sparta Road.
The man evidently lost control of the motorcycle, which ended up on a grassy shoulder.
He and his daughter were taken to Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Their names weren’t immediately released.
Information about the severity of their injuries wasn’t available Wednesday evening.

To everyone saying the man shouldnt have had his 7 year child on the motorcycle with him, I have you all know some of my fondest memories of my son growing up involved a scooter. His first big ride was when he was 8 years old, we went on an overnight ride to raise money for peidiatric brain tumor research. All of you can call me crazy if you want, but if I had to do all over again, the only thing I would do different would be to take him with me on more rides when I stayed overnight, because I feel the day we are born the good lord has it written down in a big book, how and when we are going to leave this world, and there is nothing we can do to speed it up or slow it down.

I do hate to hear anyone got into an accident. But blaming everyone else is lame, whether 2 or 4 wheels. Should I start complaining that a big 4x4truck didnt yield to my little truck? You better believe im gonna let them in. Thats the nature of the beast. Bigger will usually prevail. LIke I said, I love to ride just as much as the next guy, but you show me one bike that has as many saftey precautions as a car. That "false" security has a lot better chance of keeping you alive than skidding on your face or breaking your neck and possible leaving you a vegetable. Then your not really living are you until you have experienced that.

I personally used to ride motorcycles also. I never feared my own driving/riding, but it got to a point I figured somebody in a car or pick-up was going to kill me, so I finally gave it up. I hope these two do not have any major injuries, and heal soon. And I've had health problems over the last few years, so the rest of you Motorcycle Riders do not have to worry about me being a problem anymore! Best of luch to you all!!
