VALLEY MILLS (December 31, 2009)--A bounty hunter from Valley Mills and a lawyer from Waco were killed early Thursday morning when the vehicles they were driving collided head-on just south of Valley Mills on State Highway 6.

Gell Richard Kingery, 60, of Waco and Jeffrey Lynn Windham, 43, of Valley Mills were pronounced dead at the scene just after 3 a.m. just south of Valley Mills.

Justice of the Peace Pat Richardson ordered both bodies sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences at Parkland Hospital, in Dallas, for autopsy.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said Kingery was driving south on Highway 6 in a 2001 Dodge pickup truck that was towing a trailer when a 1999 Jeep driven by Windham crossed into the southbound lane and the two collided head-on.

Troopers say dense fog in the area at the time of the crash likely contributed to the accident.

Both men were alone in their vehicles and there were no other injuries.

Funeral services for Kingery are at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Victorious Life Church.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home at 4520 Bosque Blvd. in Waco.

My condolances to the Windam family for this sudden tragedy. I just got to know Jeff a few months ago before I left Waco and moved to Arizona; and I will say; everytime he walked into Lakeside Tavern he made my day. He was a very kind hearted and caring person and he will be missed dearly.

I knew Gell 43 years ago in Lubbock. He was a great athlete and quiet leader. He will be greatly missed and not forgotten. He was kind to everyone. I am sure he lived a purposeful life - so sorry to hear of this accident that cut his life too short.
