KILLEEN (January 7, 2009)—An arrest warrant charging murder was issued Thursday for Willie Lee Netter, 21, in an early-morning shooting that claimed the life of Karon Deonta Counts, 18, of Killeen.

Netter is 5-foot-10 to 5-foot-11, weighs about 170 pounds, and has dreadlocks, police said.

He should be considered armed and dangerous and warned residents against trying to apprehend him, police said.

Killeen Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of as much as $1,000 for information leading to his arrest, police said.

Counts was pronounced dead at 12:50 a.m. Thursday at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center at Fort Hood after officers, who responded just before 10 p.m. Wednesday to a report of gunfire in the 2800 block of Cantabrian Drive, found him sitting in a green Ford Taurus suffering from a gunshot wound.

Killeen Fire Department paramedics took Counts to Darnall but doctors there were unable to save him.

Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke ordered Counts' body sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, for autopsy.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Netter’s whereabouts to call Killeen Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-8477.

I have been here since 1972 and Killeen hasnt "always" been bad. But I agree it is now. Part of it is Katrina "people" but alot of it is the apathy of todays adults to show respect for others and watch idly by as their kids take that example and run with it. We all want the schools to be the one to keep our kids in line, then are the first to attack the school when they dare discipline our little heathens....I mean angels....
