FORT WORTH (January 12, 2010)-A woman drowned after she fell through the ice of a pond in far northern Fort Worth while trying to save her dog.

Fort Worth fire-rescue divers pulled 34-year-old Andrea Benua from the pond just before noon Monday, about two hours after witnesses reported a dog in the pond.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office says Benua was pronounced dead around 3:00 p.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital in Forth Worth.

Divers also recovered the bodies of two dogs from the frigid waters.
