Four Fort Hood Soldiers Die In Roadside Bomb Explosion
Four Fort Hood soldiers died when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Iraq, the military said Tuesday.

(June 26, 2007)—A roadside bomb explosion has claimed the lives of four soldiers assigned to Fort Hood’s 1st Cavalry Division.

First Lt. Daniel P. Riordan, 24, of St. Louis, Mo., Sgt. Joel A. House, 22, of Lee, Maine, Sgt. Jimy M. Malone, 23, of Wills Point and Spc. Derek A. Calhoun, 23, of Oklahoma City died Saturday in Taji.

They were assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division’s 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team.

The Department of Defense also announced the death of an Army sergeant from Lubbock.

Sgt. Chris Davis, 35, died Saturday in Baghdad of injuries he received in a homemade bomb and small arms attack.

Staff Sgt. Michael D. Moody Jr., 31, of Richmond, Va. and Pvt. Shane M. Stinson, 23, of Fullerton, Calif. also died in the attack.

The three were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, from Fort Benning, Ga.
