THE COLONY (January 22, 2010)--Grief counselors were on hand Friday at an elementary school in the Dallas suburb of The Colony after a 9-year-old boy was found hanged in an elementary school bathroom.

Authorities say it appears that the fourth grader committed suicide.

Police in The Colony, which is about 20 miles north of Dallas, said school staff members found the boy Thursday afternoon in the bathroom at Stewart's Creek Elementary School.

Lt. Darren Brockway said the boy "had reportedly hung himself in a bathroom" and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

An autopsy was ordered and results were pending Friday.

Autopsy results are pending.

Police said no criminal charges are expected.

The school district said Friday that no details on the incident would be released out of respect to the boy's family.

The school was sending a broad letter about the incident home with students Friday.
