CONROE (February 4, 2010)—A jury Thursday in Conroe found Brandon Lee Ferguson, 23, of Pinehurst guilty of manslaughter in the deaths of five people in a traffic accident in January 2009.
Authorities say Ferguson was driving at speeds as fast as 117 miles per hour on Texas 249 in Montgomery County, north of Houston, when his car slammed into a van, killing the husband, parents and uncle of the van's driver, Karla Sexton and Ferguson's lone passenger, Kayla Pratorius, 18, of Magnolia.
Ferguson also was convicted on one count of aggravated assault count relating to injuries to Sexton, of Broken Arrow, Okla.
Jurors deliberated for about a half hour Thursday before returning the verdict.
