EL PASO (February 6, 2010)—Three people are dead after the crash of a medical helicopter Friday night at Fort Bliss, just outside El Paso, Army officials said.
Army officials said the helicopter’s crew was working in a support role for training missions when the crash occurred Friday night.
Rick Ericson, a spokesman for Omniflight Helicopters says the three who were killed were crewmembers of a Southwest Medevac flight, the pilot and two paramedics.
Their names have not been released.
Post spokeswoman Jean Offutt told the El Paso Times that the helicopter caught on fire.
Federal investigators including a team from the National Transportation Safety Board were en route to the crash scene.
