KILLEEN (February 7, 2010)—An early-morning crash Saturday in the 6600 block of South Highway 201 in Killeen involving a Honda Accord and a GMC Envoy left one man dead and sent six other people including three children to area hospitals.

The Honda was southbound on Highway 201 at around 2:30 a.m. when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which slid across the median and into the northbound lanes where the rear passenger side of the car struck the Envoy, in which a 23-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and three children were riding, police said.

The passenger in the Honda, Robert Stacy Childers, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 45-year-old woman who was driving the car was flown by helicopter to Scott & White Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The five occupants of the Envoy were taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

Their injuries were not life threatening, police said.

The names of the injured victims weren’t immediately released
