A standoff in Fall County resulted in the death of the shooting suspect early Saturday morning.

Officials said Saturday that SWAT officers fatally shot the suspect shortly after midnight after he threatened to shoot a nearby propane tank.

According to officials, a 83-year-old William Meyer from Pleasant Groves began randomly shooting a high-powered rifle around ten o'clock Friday morning from his double-wide trailer. The standoff with police continued through the afternoon and evening.

EMS were on standby, but no one was injured. The gunman's wife and daughter, who were being held hostage in the home, were also not injured.

Police blocked off F.M. 1048 for about a mile in each direction of the suspect's location.

Neighbors were in disbelief, saying they knew Mr. Meyer to be a wonderful family man and neighbor.
