Central Texas Town Issues Boil Order
The City of Mart has issued a boil order for all water customers save the TYC facility.

MART (February 9, 2010)-Customers of the Mart Water System are urged to boil water for consumption to ensure safe drinking water after a system interruption.

To ensure destruction of harmful bacteria and other microbes, customers should boil any water to be used for drinking, ice making, cooking or any other type of consumption.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires water systems to issue such orders when there is an interruption in water service due to low pressure or system outage.

Officials will notify customers when it is no longer necessary to boil water.

Anyone with questions may call the water system office at 254-876-2462 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Seriously Tom...Hillbillies, really? I am not so sure hillbillies is fair and given the awfully rude tone of this post you obviously have deep seeded issues with Mart...old ex hillbilly girlfriend dump you for a better hillbilly? Mart is a great place to live with all types of folks and yes with city issues but maybe Stephn you could service on the city council and help the situation with some very insightful ideas rather than blasting rude comments about the city you chose to live in. This hillbilly has lived in Mart 30 years and our Mayor and City Council is doing what it can with what they have...so try and help the situation not run it down.

How many times are we going to have issues with our water before someone does something. In the 4 years I have lived here we have been without water and have had boil water notices more than when I lived in Bryan/College Station for 13 years and Springtown before that. This definitely was not the best place to buy a house and be able to drink the water. My wife spends about $8-$10 a week on buying water because she is afraid to drink it and afraid to give it to our children. We have even put water filters on our baths because it was stated that the contaimnents in the water can be absorb through the skin. Between the streets that have messed up the front end on my vehicles a time or two and the water Mart is not a town that will see much growth.
