KILLEEN (February 26, 2010)—Vernon Hunter, 68, the longtime Internal Revenue Service who died when an angry software engineer flew a small plane into the side of a seven-story Austin building, was buried with full military honors Friday afternoon at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Earlier Friday, hundreds of mourners crowded into church in eastern Austin to pay tribute to Hunter.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that more than 200 people gathered at the St. James Missionary Baptist church for the funeral.

Hunter, a Vietnam War veteran, died Feb. 18 when Andrew Joseph Stack III of Austin deliberately crashed his small plane into the Echelon building in north Austin, where about 200 IRS employees worked.

Stack was the only other person killed in the attack, which left 13 others injured, two seriously.

During the service, letters of condolence from President Barack Obama and Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell were read to the mourners.

There's not a way to play the race card in this incident since a stupid idiot flew a plane into a building. But, Waco is one of the most segregated and racist places in Texas. It ranks real close to Vidor and Lumberton,Tx. Personally, if it was me, I would go after any assets this guy may have had. That's just me.
