(July 19, 2007)—A day after releasing surveillance video that showed a man police said may have been responsible for a series of residential burglaries along Waco’s Highway 84 corridor, investigators said Thursday they’ve made an arrest.

Jimmy Douglas Lee, 45, is charged with Burglary of a Habitation and Theft over $1,500, but under $20,000.

The charges stem from a string of home burglaries in west Waco.

The burglar entered homes through open garages and stole mainly small personal items, police said.

Officers arrested Lee Wednesday afternoon after McGregor police received a report of a man in a tree behind the Dell facility.

Earlier in the day Wednesday, someone broke into a residence at 117 Whistling Wind Trail and stole a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder.

As Waco officers were investigating the theft, McGregor police received a report that a man had abandoned a Pathfinder in the parking lot of the Brookshire’s grocery store and then ran into a cornfield.

A parking lot surveillance camera captured an image of the man as he fled.

The picture matched the appearance of the man officers found hiding in the tree, police said.
