ROSATI, Mo. (March 10, 2010)--The Texas man that a Missouri state trooper shot and killed Tuesday has been identified as Patrick Greer, 29, of Fort Worth.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released the name Wednesday.

Greer was shot and killed after reportedly opening fire on troopers and deputies on Tuesday.

The highway patrol said the U.S. Secret Service notified Cuba and Crawford County authorities that Greer was possibly in the area, and was wanted on felony warrants out of Texas for assault, a drug violation and engaging in organized crime.

Deputies and highway patrol officers spotted Greer’s vehicle and pursued it on Interstate 44 near Cuba.

Greer pulled over, got out of the pickup and fired at officers, authorities said.

Officers returned fire, killing him.

None of the officers was hurt, authorities said.
