BRYAN (March 11, 2010)-A former Marine accused in the stabbing death of a Rice University basketball player during a 2007 fight outside a College Station bar has been found not guilty.

A Brazos County jury on Wednesday found Ronald Andrew Johnson not guilty in the death of Jonathan Bailey.

The jury also found Johnson not guilty of the aggravated assault of Bailey's twin brother, Janson.

Defense attorneys said Johnson acted in self-defense when he stabbed the brothers. They said he was trying to save his brother, Michael Fuller, who was being beaten by the twins.

Defense attorney Murray Newman says, "Every death is a tragedy, but this tragedy is not a crime,"

Prosecutors argued that Johnson and Fuller and the Bailey twins were engaged in a typical bar fight and that Johnson escalated the situation by pulling out a knife.
