HUNTSVILLE (March 11, 2010)--An Indiana man convicted of killing a Bexar County sheriff’s deputy during a month-long cross-country crime spree that left another man dead, as well, was executed just after 6 p.m. Thursday in Huntsville.

Joshua Maxwell, 31, was sentenced to die for the shooting death of Bexar County Sheriff's Sgt. Rudy Lopes, who was off duty when he was robbed, gunned down and dumped behind a shopping mall nearly 10 years ago.

Afterward, Maxwell and a girlfriend fled to California where they were arrested in Lopes' stolen pickup after a police chase through downtown San Francisco.

The U.S. Supreme Court refused last week to review his case.

Maxwell was the fourth Texas prisoner executed so far this year.

Deuteronomy 19-21: 19 you must also do to him just as he had schemed to do to his brother, and you m ust clear away what is bad from your midst. 20 So those who remain will hear and be afraid, and they will never again do anything bad like this in your midst. 21 And your eye should not feel sorry; soul will be for soul, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

I'm with Rowdy, it should be at least 3 a week until there are no more. Heck I'd be happy to see one a day injected until death row is empty. Make them pay for there crime, I also think they should bring back public hangings, maybe that would put a little fear into these people before they break the law.
