JACKSON, Miss. (March 12, 2010)—Lesbian teenager Constance McMillen is suing to force her Fulton, Miss. high school to hold the prom that school officials decided to cancel, rather than allowing the 18-year-old to attend with her girlfriend and wearing a tuxedo.
McMillen has enlisted the support of the American Civil Liberties Union in her fight to force the school to reinstate the prom.
A lawsuit asks a federal judge to order that the prom be held and that McMillen be allowed to attend with her girlfriend, wearing whatever she chooses.
“I just want to go to the prom and bring my date, just like everyone else gets to,” she told CBS News.
Meanwhile, New Orleans hotel owner Sean Cummings is offering to take the students to New Orleans by bus, and host a free prom at one of his properties.
He told the Jackson Clarion-Ledger he's disappointed with the school board's decision and says that high school should be concluded on a "joyful" note.

A democracy, as I remember, is run by the majority. Your homosexual attitudes are not that majority, no matter how loud you scream. And, you are not reproducing more very rapidly!
She may not get her prom but, I'll bet she is going to get a tidy sum for the discrimination suit. Funny that Christians seem to think that because they're a majority in this nation that somehow they think their religion is law. Well, it isn't. If you want to ban certain people from your church you can do that. Banning people from public functions, schools, services, or employment is going to earn yourself a big fat lawsuit. Your religious beliefs can govern anyone who belongs to your church but, that governance only applies to those who belong to the church. Understand?
Interesting title,'Lesbian Teen Sues to Force High School To Hold Prom'. Much more vilifying than "Lesbian Teenager Fights Against Discrimination". What else to do can you expect from a country that still has segregated proms? http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/24/magazine/24prom-t.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1
