PRAIRIE HILL (March 12, 2010)--A 59-year-old West man was killed Friday morning near Prairie Hill in Limestone County when the four-wheeler he was riding struck a tractor-trailer truck.
Michael Don Mach, whose address was listed as the 500 block of Marable, in West, was pronounced dead at the scene by Limestone County Justice of the Peace Marcus Hanna.
Mach's body was taken to Groesbeck Funeral Home where arrangements were pending Friday.
The truck driver, Glenda Zavala, 37, of Ft. Worth, was not injured.
Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Clint Cole's report indicates Mach was attempting to drive his ATV cross U.S. Highway 84 at Farm-to-Market Road 73 when the 1995 Polaris Magnum he was riding struck the saddle tank of the 2001 Mack truck tractor that Zavala was driving.
The truck was pulling a belly-dump trailer loaded with asphalt.
Trooper Cole said neither vehicle was severely damaged in the collision, but Mach was thrown from the ATV onto the pavement and eventually was caught up in the rear axles of the trailer.

My sister and her friend were the 3rd people on the scene. It effected my sister deeply. She worried about his family all weekend. Accidents happen and people make poor choices in judgement but there's nothing that can change the fact that a man lopst his life and a family lost a memeber. RIP
hey Scooper: what about the atv? this has nothing to do with the truck.
God Bless all of those involved. Who turned the idiots out with keyboards though?!?
