GROESBECK (March 15, 2010)—Firefighters were called just before 1 a.m. Monday to a house fire in Groesbeck that gutted the building.
The fire broke out at a home in the 900 block of Phyllis Street.
The owner of the home works at a nursing home in Marlin and was not at home at the time of the blaze.
Authorities identified her as Anna Phillips and said she lived in the house with her son, who also was not home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters said they believe the origin of the fire was electrical.
No one was injured in the fire, and firefighters were able to rescue a dog from inside the burning house.
Crews from Groesbeck and Mexia responded to the fire.
