LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (March 16, 2010)--Two University of Arkansas students, one of whom was from the Houston area, were killed in a fall a cliff on private land in Franklin County, Ark. and another student from Texas was injured as he tried to help them.

Franklin County, Ark. officials say the fall early Sunday morning claimed the lives of Laura Elizabeth Echols, 20, of Fort Smith, Ark. and Trenton Lee Faith II, 20 of Cypress, Texas.

Cameron Cooper of Coppell suffered a broken pelvis and other injuries as he tried to help the two who fell in an area near the Mulberry River.

Echols fell first, authorities said.

Faith then fell while trying to reach her, they said.

Cooper was airlifted to a hospital and was later transferred to a hospital in Texas.
