The House of Representatives passed an appropriations bill Friday that would grant $10.7 million to programs in Waco. L-3 Communications would get $6.3 million, $1 million would go to Advanced Concepts and Technologies and Concepts and the Waco VA would receive $3.4 million.
L-3 Communications portion of the money would be used to improve Navy surveillance aircraft. Advanced Concepts and Technologies would use the funding to improve detection systems for chemical and biological contaminants.
The defense appropriations bill would also grant $3.4 million for research on post traumatic stress disorder. The research project is a joint effort between the Waco VA and Fort Hood.
The Senate must still pass the appropriations bill when its members return from August vacation.
