Fort Hood Soldier’s Wife, Children Die In Murder Suicide

SAN ANTONIO (April 2, 2010)--A woman and two children who were found dead of gunshot wounds Friday in a suburban home west of San Antonio have been identified as the wife and children of a Fort Hood soldier who’s preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.

A Bexar County sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the home at around 7 a.m. Friday in response to a call from the Richard Griffin, who asked authorities to check the residence because his wife had threatened to kill herself and the two children.

When the deputy arrived, he saw heavy smoke coming from the two-story home and called for firefighters who found the bodies Sheena Griffin, 36, and her two sons, Richard, 8, and Joshua, 9, in the boys’ upstairs bedroom, authorities said.

KENS-TV in San Antonio reported that Richard Griffin filed for divorce on March 1..

Bexar County Chief Deputy Sheriff Dale Bennett said it appears to have been a murder-suicide.
