Victim Of Deadly Motorcycle Crash Was Fort Hood Soldier

FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died April 7, in Gatesville, Texas of injuries sustained as a result of a traffic accident.

GATESVILLE (April 08, 2010)-A Hamilton man is dead after a Wednesday night motorcycle crash just north of Gatesville.

Coryell County Justice of the Peace Jimmy Wood pronounced Randy Edwin O’Neal, 21, dead at the scene at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

O’Neal died after losing control of his motorcycle at around 9 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 36 in Coryell County.

Texas Department of Public Safety trooper David said the motorcycle left the highway and ended up on the eastbound shoulder.

O’Neal was thrown from the motorcycle into the center of the highway where an eastbound vehicle later struck his body.

The driver of the car and a passenger escaped injury.

O’Neal was wearing a helmet, authorities said.

O’Neal joined the Army in June 207 and deployed to Iraq from January 2009 to January 2010, Fort Hood said.
