Cab Driver Killed In Shooting Outside Texas Strip Club Identified

DALLAS (April 19, 2010)—A gunman who opened fire early Monday morning outside of a Dallas strip club killed a cab driver and wounded the cabbie’s two passengers, police said.

The driver was identified Monday afternoon as Bashir R. Abraham, 30.

The two wounded men were involved in the disturbance in the club, Dallas Police Sr. Cpl. Janice Crowther said.

Police were searching for the gunman, who opened fire on the cab from another vehicle at around 5 a.m. Monday.

The two wounded passengers "left the cab driver on the ground at that location and drove themselves to Parkland Hospital in the taxi,” Crowther said.

Paramedics later took Abraham to Parkland, where he was pronounced dead.

The two passengers were treated and were arrested on unrelated charges when they were released from the hospital, Crowther said, but she did not elaborate.

Police were examining the cab, which they found abandoned outside the hospital.
