(August 16, 2007)--At least one death in Texas is blamed on what had been Tropical Storm Erin.
Authorities say Erin pushed through with heavy thunderstorms after making landfall Thursday on the Texas Gulf Coast and headed to the flood-weary Hill Country.
Officials say one person died in Houston when a storage-unit roof collapsed.
Heavy rain in the Houston area also left behind flooding.
But emergency officials and residents say preparing for Erin was good practice as the 2007 hurricane season picks up.
Erin came ashore near Rockport, bringing rain to the coast even as it was downgraded to a tropical depression, meaning sustained winds of less than 39 miles per hour.
Locally heavy rainfall is possible in parts of Central Texas, as well.

The National Weather Service has put much of South Texas from a Corpus Christi-Laredo line to San Angelo and from Houston to the Pecos River under a flash flood watch.
The watch area includes Williamson and San Saba Counties in Central Texas.
Periods of heavy rainfall are possible Thursday, along with localized flooding, especially south of a line from Eastland to Waco to Centerville.
More rain is possible for the next several days as the remnants of the storm move slowly northward.
There’s also a slight chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms next Monday through Wednesday southeast of a line from Emory to Waxahachie to Gatesville.
There’s a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday with highs in the mid to lower 90s.
Rain chances drop slightly overnight, and then rise to 60 percent Friday, when the best chance of more showers and thunderstorms will come in the afternoon.
Rain remains a possibility through the weekend and into the first half of the new workweek.
