Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: An isolated shower or thunderstorm remains possible in the hot and humid air this Saturday, the 4th. Same for Sunday...although NOT a wash-out either day!
(August 19, 2007)--An owner of a Utah coal mine now says it's ''likely'' that the six miners missing for nearly two weeks ''may not be found.''
It's a shift in tone from the optimism that mine owners had been maintaining throughout the search for the missing men.
According to Rob Moore, a vice president of Murray Energy Corporation, the latest results from a fourth hole that was drilled into the mine found that the air quality could not sustain life.
There's been little evidence that the miners survived the initial collapse on Aug. 6.
Workers have drilled four holes through which video cameras and microphones were placed, but they found no signs of life.
Engineering experts have gathered at the mine Sunday to try to figure out a safe way of reaching the men.
Underground tunneling was stopped after three rescuers were killed on Thursday.
