Survivor Of Crash That Killed Four Released From Hospital

(September 4, 2007)--A Central Texas man who survived an accident that claimed the lives of four passengers in the minivan he was driving was out of the hospital Tuesday, a day after he was admitted in what authorities described as critical condition.

Billy Jack Patterson, 72, of Mexia was taken to Scott & White Hospital after a grinding collision Monday on Highway 6 north of Calvert that killed four passengers in the minivan he was driving.

Authorities described his condition Monday as critical.

The accident occurred around 2:15 p.m. Monday about six miles north of Calvert as Patterson attempted to pass another vehicle and his minivan collided with a southbound wrecker driven by Michael Muzyka of Bremond.

Charlene Patterson, 71 of Mexia, Adam Douglas Gordon, 28 of Mexia, Michael Gordon, 6, of Mexia and Landon Rusnak, 3, whose hometown wasn’t available, died in the crash.

Muzyka was treated for minor injuries and was later released.
