NEW BRAUNFELS (July 8, 2010)--Searchers Thursday recovered the body of a Waco man missing since Wednesday afternoon near New Braunfels.
Vance Swensen, 60, was last seen Wednesday afternoon rafting on the Guadalupe River.
Witnesses told Comal County sheriff's deputies they saw Swensen's raft capsize and said he did not surface.
Rescuers launched an intensive search for Swensen Wednesday afternoon, but bad weather forced a halt to the effort.
Lt. Mark Reynolds, of the Comal County Sheriff's Office, told News 10 the search resumed early Thursday.
Swensen’s body was recovered from the river at about 9 a.m.
Comal County Justice of the Peace Jennifer Saunders pronounced Swensen dead at the scene.
His body was sent to Zeller's Funeral Home in New Braunfels.
Saunders ruled the death an accidental drowning and she did not order an autopsy.
