“Blue Jacket Bandit” Convicted In Rash Of Central Texas Bank Robberies
The first of the two so-called Blue Jacket Bandits was convicted Wednesday in federal court in Waco in a rash of bank robberies in Central and North Texas.

A surveillance camera captured these images of the robbers, who were dubbed the “Blue Jacket Bandits.” The man on the right was identified as Kelley.

WACO (July 28, 2010)—Ronnie Keith Kelley was found guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Waco on all five counts in connection with a rash of bank robberies in Waco, Temple and Dallas.
Kelly and his alleged accomplice, Benjamin Alexander Potts, are accused of robberies on Jan. 19 at the Wachovia Bank in Dallas, Feb. 2 at the Independent Bank in Waco and Feb. 11 at the Bank of America in Temple.
The charges are enhanced by accusations that Kelley and Potts used a firearm during the robberies and charges also include accusations of a conspiracy between the two defendants.
Kelley will be sentenced on Oct. 13.
Potts is set for trial at a later date.
The suspects were dubbed the “Blue Jacket Bandits” because in each of the holdups, the robbers were dressed in blue jackets that resembled uniform jackets, sunglasses and striped stocking caps.
