I-35 Accident Spills Poultry Shipment Onto Highway

WEST (FEBRUARY 13, 2013) -- I35 Southbound was shut down late Wednesday night after an accident involving two 18 wheelers.

The accident occurred before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in West near exit 353.

A DPS trooper on scene reported the driver of an 18-wheeler fell asleep at the wheel and his rig ran into the back of another 18-wheeler.

One of the trucks was carrying a shipment of poultry that spilled onto the highway after the accident.

Crews were working to clear the spilled shipment and accident scene before reopening the highway.
