MISSION (March 13, 2014) A U.S. Border Patrol agent who was found dead Thursday in a house in Mission was the focus of an investigation stemming from the kidnapping and assault of three women, the FBI said.
Both the FBI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection released few details Thursday about events that unfolded Wednesday night when CPB says authorities encountered an injured woman who told them that a man had attacked her and two others.
Authorities later found the second injured woman.
On Thursday investigators went to the house in Mission where they found the third woman and the dead agent.
The three women, who aren’t U.S. citizens, were being treated Thursday.
The FBI issued a brief statement Thursday that said agents assigned to the bureau’s McAllen Resident Agency Office are investigating “the kidnapping and assault of three undocumented female aliens, which occurred on or about March 12 in the Rio Grande Valley.”
“The subject, a US Customs and Border Protection Agent, was found deceased at his residence. The circumstances of his alleged involvement and subsequent death are under investigation,” the statement said.
