BELL COUNTY (November 8, 2012)—A Central Texas man who was arrested after an alert neighbor surprised a burglar and another resident told deputies where to find the suspect was jailed Thursday, charged with burglary of a habitation.

Jonathan Scott Holleran, 29, was ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Online jail records show that he’s from Rosebud, although police earlier said he was from Temple.

The owner of the house the burglar targeted called 911 just before noon Tuesday and told authorities that his neighbor had called him to ask if a black Chevrolet Blazer was supposed to be at the home in the 17600 block of FM 2904 in far eastern Bell County.

The homeowner said no and asked the neighbor to check on the vehicle, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The neighbor drove over to the house and as he pulled around in back, he saw a man walking out the backdoor, the sheriff’s office said.

The neighbor tried unsuccessfully to detain the burglar, but the man escaped in the Blazer with which he tried to run the neighbor down, the sheriff’s office said.

The burglar sped off toward the south on Highway 53 on Temple, but deputies later caught up with him after learning from another resident that the Blazer was parked behind a grain storage facility at Airville Road and Highway 53, the sheriff’s office said.
