HOUSTON (June 23, 2014) An Amber Alert issued for an 8-month-old girl who was in a car stolen from a Houston gas station was canceled Monday morning after the infant was found unharmed, still strapped in her safety seat.

A jogger heard a baby crying Monday morning, went to check, and found the girl, Genesis Haley, still in her car seat in a brushy area.

The infant was taken to a hospital to be checked out and then was returned to her mother.

Her mother told police that she left Genesis in the vehicle around 1 a.m. Monday as she went into the station to pay for some gas.

The car, which was stolen while she was inside the station, was later found abandoned but Genesis and her car seat were gone.

Police say the girl was found hours later in the same general area.
