GROVETON (November 20, 2012)—An Amber Alert that South Texas authorities issued for a missing Groveton 11-year-old was cancelled Tuesday afternoon.
Savannah Hurley, who was last seen Monday in The Woodlands, in Montgomery County, has been found, but no other details were released.
Police said they believed she was with her mother, Shelly Jean Hurley, 46, in a 1996 Subaru Legacy station wagon with Alabama license tag number 48738AZ.
The Subaru was later found in Mesquite, but neither the girl nor her mother was located, authorities said.
The Amber Alert was issued after the girl’s mother had a confrontation with a Child Protective Services worker who was trying to take custody of the youngster, police said.
