TULSA, Okla. (May 14, 2014) The crew of an American Airlines flight that was en route from Arkansas to Dallas made an emergency landing in Tulsa, Okla., after the pilot reported mechanical issues on board the plane.
The MD-80 carrying 142 passengers landed at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Tulsa International Airport, Tulsa International Airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins said.
Live footage from Tulsa television station KOTV showed the plane making a low pass and circling the airport before landing.
Higgins said the plane was being towed to the terminal so passengers can disembark.
The plane was diverted to Tulsa as a precaution, American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller said.
He did not immediately have details on the mechanical issue, but said crews were trying to determine whether the aircraft can be fixed in Tulsa.
The plane was en route from Little Rock, Ark., to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
