VALLEY MILLS (August 26, 2014) Madolyn Johnson, who was placed on paid administrative leave from her post as municipal judge in Valley Mills, turned in her resignation Monday amid an investigation into her office.

Valley Mills City Council appointed veteran clerk Hilda Cuthbertson to serve in that capacity until a permanent replacement can be named.

City council accepted Johnson letter of resignation at a meeting on Monday night.

City Secretary Christi Turner, who also was placed on leave in connection with the investigation, returned to work on Monday, Mayor Jerry Pierce said.

Pierce, citing personnel issues, would not elaborate on the issue or the investigation.

The interim clerk and judge are scheduled to start work Tuesday.
