GATESVILLE (February 24, 2013)—A Gatesville man was flown Sunday afternoon from the scene of an accident to Scott & White Hospital after he lost control of his pickup truck, which ended up under a highway bridge.
Gatesville fire Chief Billy Vaden said rescuers were sent at about 3:40 p.m. to U.S. Highway 84 east of Gatesville at Coryell Creek.
Vaden said the driver was driving west alone in his pickup when he lost control, left the roadway, and went airborne across the creek where the truck came to rest.
The driver was flown by helicopter to Scott and White in undetermined condition.
Vaden said the highway was closed only while the helicopter was on scene.
The driver’s identity was not disclosed.
